Off to Greece!
Well it's been a while since I've attempted blogging about something. Last time I did this, people still read instead of simply watched YouTube videos or 10 second reels and TikToks. Needless to say, people's attention spans have rapidly declined over the last decade. Anyway, this isn't a blog about the decline of our society, but rather, it's a blog about Jes and I's upcoming trip to Greece, a region where society actually began... And flourished for hundreds of years.
So why Greece? And why isn't Jac coming? Well, Jac and I travel much differently then Jes and I do. And this trip was my attempt and getting Jes to enjoy the fruits of his labour. Since college, he hasn't stopped working hard and has yet to take a break. Pretty sure he never would if not nudged a little. Great trait in an employee but you gotta have a little fun too. As to why we chose Greece.... Well, history of course. Just a couple nerds travelling together.
I had just completed a college course on Ancient Civilizations so my interest was already peaked. We had narrowed it down to Thailand, Italy, and Greece. And although the history in Italy wouldve been as equally interesting, we eventually settled on Greece.
So here's how the next few days will unwind. Unlike our trip to Japan, where we had our whole stay pretty much planned, we have absolutely no plan for Greece. We've made our lodging and transportation arrangements, but aside from that, we'll just be winging it. We'll be landing in Athens tomorrowm morning around 11am (Saturday, July 8th), 4am home time. We'll be in Athens for 4 days, then fly to the island of Crete for 3 days, followed by a Ferry ride to the island of Santorini for another 3 days before flying back to Athens for our return flight home.
I'm hoping to keep everyone updated on a daily basis, but my primary goal is to just enjoy the trip with Jes and take in as much as we can in the short time we'll be there.
Looking forward to sharing our adventures over the next few days.
